NEW TEAM MEMBERS!
We are thrilled to introduce our new team of Peer Navigators at Zero8Hundred! They provide personalized, social work-based support for transitioning service members (TSMs). TSMs can count on a collaborative partnership with Peer Navigators, connecting them to vital resources for achieving their goals. This team focuses on alleviating stressors related to employment, education, health, basic needs, and community connections during the transition to civilian life.
WE ARE A US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR PARTNER!
Zero8Hundred is proud to be a US Department of Labor partner! In support of the ENPP, VETS will work with selected high caliber employment and training organizations from the public and private sector, as defined in section 1144 of Title 10. Nonprofit Leadership and Management Graduate Steve Kappes Follows Passions to ‘Encore Career’
Steve Kappes, Zero8Hundred's Board Chair and retired United States Navy Captain, graduated this past May from the University of San Diego (USD) with a Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership and Management — and if you’re keeping track, yes, this is his second advanced degree.
“A couple of years ago, I started to think, ‘I’ve done a lot of military-related work, and that has been extremely fulfilling, but it’s a big world out there with a lot of other possibilities,’” says Kappes. “It got me thinking, ‘What else might I like to do?’”
One of his initial thoughts was to do something that continued his passion for volunteer work.
“Community service is really important to me. As I reflected on that, I thought, ‘the next move I want to make career-wise is into the nonprofit sector.’”
